Auto Accidents in California
If you are injured due to the negligence of someone else, whether in a car accident, slip and fall, dog bite, or another situation, you have the right to sue and recover money. A lawsuit will allow you to recover money and pay for medical bills, lost wages, damage to your vehicle, and pain and suffering. Freeway Law attorneys can help you with this process.
In California, Personal injury claims must be filed in court within 2 years of sustaining injuries. If you don’t file a lawsuit in court, you will be permanently barred from recovering anything at all.
Every car and every driver must carry auto liability insurance in California. The minimum insurance coverage required in California is a 15/30 coverage for bodily injury, which means that in the event of an accident, your insurance company will pay up to these limits for injuries you are liable for. The 15 refers to $15,000 of insurance coverage per person injured and the 30 refers to $30,000 of maximum coverage for all injured individuals. There must also be a minimum of $5,000 worth of coverage for property damage.
California requires drivers to carry at least the following auto insurance coverages: Bodily injury liability coverage: $15,000 per person / $30,000 per accident minimum. Property damage liability coverage: $5,000 minimum. Uninsured motorist bodily injury coverage: $15,000 per person / $30,000 per accident minimum (Uninsured Motorist coverages can be waived).
While these are the minimum coverages California requires you to have, everyone's insurance policies are difference and unique. Some individuals may also have multiple insurance policies such as a commercial general liability insurance policy (for businesses), and/or an umbrella policy. Attorneys at Freeway Law are well-versed in finding and reviewing such policies to maximize the recovery for auto accident victims.
